CID has called in both UPC president Olara Otunnu and FDC's Kizza Besigye for questioning.

Last week, CID called UPC president Olara Otunnu for questioning over comments he allegedly made that President Museveni was funding the Lord’s Resistance Army.  However, Otunnu sent lawyers to meet with CID instead. CID asked Otunnu to reappear this upcoming Friday, but he said he will not appear for interrogation, the Daily Monitor reported.

The police spokesperson said that if  Otunnu does not appear, he will face prosecution.  The UPC candidate has called the war with the LRA a “war of convenience,” and said the president sabotaged peace and reconciliation efforts so the war could continue, according to reporting by AFP.

FDC president Dr. Kizza Besigye is also being investigated for charges of sedition and incitement, after he said the government was leasing Lake Kyoga to South African investors.
