The two Daily Monitor editors accused of altering a letter from President Museveni are expected to go on trial on Thursday.

Daniel Kalinaki and Henry Ochieng, the paper’s Managing Editor and Political Editor respectively, have been charged with forgery.

According to the Daily Monitor, “[The] prosecution alleges that the editors forged president Museveni’s letter by altering its title on ‘Guidance on the Banyoro/Bafuruki Question’, when they allegedly used the word Bahima instead of Bahuma.”

This is the sixth time Kalinkaki and Ochieng have appeared in court over the last nine months. The two were charged in August after publishing the leaked letter.

It is widely expected that Museveni will appear in court during the trial. However, he will most likely submit his evidence in an affidavit.
