Police: Two Bombs Detonated in Kampala

Update 3-
The latest reports are saying the death toll is now “at least 64.” Uganda Online is reporting “Bebe Cool, Zuena and UBC’s Lauryn were among the survivors of the Kyandondo Rugby bombs.”

Update 2- The New York Times says the death total is at least 50. The Daily Monitor says at least half of the 13 people killed at the Ethiopian Village restaurant were foreigners.

Update (8:17 pm EST): CNN is now reporting that at least 40 people have died in the bombings.

Breaking News- The Associated Press is reporting that two bombs exploded late Sunday evening in Kampala. Police chief Kale Kaihura told the AP that he cannot confirm a death toll, but that 20 people are feared dead and many more injured.

Kaihura also speculates that the Somali militant group al-Shabab maybe responsible for the attack.

One of the bombs went off at the Ethiopian Village restaurant in Kampala’s Kabalagala district. Soccer fans were gathered to watch the final game of the World Cup.
