We Say Goodbye to Professor Nangalama

With great sorrow, Mrs Cate Wanyana-Nangalama and family announce the death of her beloved husband Joseph Nangalama resident of Long Branch, New Jersey. Mr Nangalama died after a short illness at Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Joseph Nangalama was born on August 8, 1950, and died at the age of 59. He started his education at Bugerere Primary School. After grade 7, he enrolled at Nabumali High School where he completed his A-level. He later joined Makerere University where he graduated with a bachelor of Science degree in chemistry.  Nangalama briefly worked in Kisuumu,Kenya before he traveled to America in 1996.

Once in the US, Nangalama joined Seton Hall University where he graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Chemistry. After graduation he worked with a pharmacutical Company in Queens, New York, before he joined the Brookdale State Community College Faculty as a Chemistry professor for more than ten years to the time of his death.

At the time of his death, he had made remarkable improvement at Gateway Rehabilitation center in Eatontown, New Jersey, and was scheduled to be released to his home this week. Cate Nangalama, wife to Joseph Nangalama, is the older sister of Margaret Muwonge-Mukasa of Mt-Olive, New Jersey. Joseph is survived by his five children:   Angela Nangalama, Brenda Nangalama,Jacquelene Nangalama, Micheal Nangalama, of Uganda and 6-year-old Timothy Wepuhulu Nangalama, of Long Branch, New Jersey.

The family is arranging to return the remains to our motherland Uganda next weekend. Currently his remains rest at the John E. Day Funeral Home.  The wake and viewing is scheduled for Saturday July 23rd from 12:00 PM to 2:00PM at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Phone#732)747-0332. Well-wishers will be welcomed to gather at Nangalamas’ home on saturday and Sunday,  ie the 17th and 18th of July. We are in desparate need of funds to return the remains to Uganda. Your support is greatly appreciated in this time of great need.
