The “Home is Best: Uganda Diaspora Business Summit”will be the fourth diaspora conference held for the Ugandan diaspora, with the first one held in 2007.  It is one of the largest efforts by the Uganda Investment Authority to encourage the international Uganda community to participate in private investment at home.

Previous years focused on how Ugandans living abroad can invest in northern Uganda, and the Uganda Investment Authority held summits in Gulu and Kampala.

Typically about 200-400 Ugandans living abroad attend, as well as their families back home and representatives of Uganda’s private sector.  Hotel Africana is offering a 40 percent discount for all Ugandans in the diaspora who attend the conference on their rooms.  The event is free for all Ugandans living abroad, and sh100,000 for Ugandans back home that would like to attend.

If you plan on heading home to Uganda for the holidays, you can register for the summit through the contact information below.  The conference will take place on December 29th and 30th, and will be held at Hotel Africana near Jinja Road.  The Uganda Investment Authority is organizing the summit, and the event is sponsored by the Diamond Trust Bank and Hotel Africana.

The Uganda Investment Authority has created a roadmap for Uganda’s relationship with Ugandans in the diaspora, and also has plans to lobby for the rights of Ugandans living abroad.
